The Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce (ECAC) was established on 28 June 1996 as an association of agricultural producers and processors in private law. As of 1997, a number of organisations and institutions supporting the food sector have joined it (trade enterprises, education institutions, etc.). By spring 2009, the ECAC had 100 members, including 13 local and 1 national association of agricultural producers as well as 12 larger professional associations.
